Our U16C team’s journey to the Shield title was nothing short of remarkable, starting with an early lead thanks to a well-taken point by Cameron Sutherland. Except for a brief five-minute period mid-way through the first half, the Malahide team maintained their lead right through to the final whistle.
In the midfield, Ben Tilley (0-3) and Charlie Mollahan dominated play with solid support from Luca Woods. Fintan Hartnett’s two goals in the first half gave Syls a crucial advantage, leading 2-5 to 1-7 at the break.
On defense, Sam Hazley showed immense resilience, keeping BSJ’s star player, Hugo Morrisey, subdued throughout the game. Jamie McManus, Eoin Eason, and Sam Crowley stepped up with their best performances of the season, creating a strong platform for Syls to build on in the second half.
A special shout out to every player in the squad, with all nineteen players playing their part in a hard-earned and well-deserved county final victory.
Congratulations, U16C team—an outstanding performance to bring home the Shield!
