St Sylvester’s GAA inaugural Teen Girls LGFA Development Week took place 14th – 16th July. 70 girls across the 2006 – 2008 age groups learned lots of new tactics, played great football, had some laughs with their teammates, under the glorious sunshine at Broomfield.

Spotting a gap for teen camps and cognisant of the importance of continuing sports for teenagers, Ciaran Guinan, one of Syls 2008 Coaches was instrumental in pulling ‘Kates Camp’ together with help of female coaches from 2006, 2007 & 2008 teams, most notably Deirdre Sharkey.

The camp, on behalf of the Ladies Games Development Committee was led by St Sylvester’s Senior and Dublin player Kate Sullivan with superb support from Dublin players Caoimhe O’ Connor (Forward), Hannah Leahy (Defender) and Danielle Lawless (Sylvester’s Senior Defender). Teresa Molahan gave some expert tips on physical training, preventative injury and conditioning. Anthony Cooke from the Sylvester’s Senior’s shared some defensive tactics. Emer, Syls Goalie led a goalkeeping session. Padraig Furlong, Sylvester’s Referee reminded all players of the LGFA rules and how to avoid fouling.

All in all there was lots of development whilst enjoying some great football.
