What a phenomenal weekend for St Sylvester’s, as our U15 girls footballers delivered an incredible Double Féile triumph, bringing home the silverware in both Division 1 and Division 7!
Yesterday, all three of our 2010 panels represented the club brilliantly across their respective Féile group stages. A huge effort was put in by every player, coach, and volunteer — with Div 1 and Div 7 marching into their finals, while the Div 11 team fought bravely in St Monica’s on a tough day. Pride all round!
Today, the focus was firmly on finals – and the girls delivered in style!
First up, our Division 7 team took on St Peregrine’s, the hosts, and faced into a challenging second half against a strong breeze. But they showed unbelievable grit and determination to seal a thrilling 2-03 to 1-04 victory and be crowned Féile Division 7 Champions. A seriously gutsy and memorable performance!
Not to be outdone, our Division 1 girls squared off against Ballinteer St John’s. Trailing by a single point at half-time, Syls came roaring back with the wind at their backs. A composed and classy second half saw them outscore their opponents 0-5 to 0-0, including a stunning point direct from a sideline, to secure a 0-6 to 0-2 win and lift the Féile Division 1 Cup. Skill, heart and pure Syls spirit on show!
The Double was secured — and what a moment for our club!
The celebrations will live long in the memory, with players proudly marching back over the bridge to the clubhouse with their cups in tow. A massive thanks to everyone who turned out to support — your presence made the day even more special.
A few shoutouts are a must:
To the coaches, who prepared the girls so well — from shadowing last year's Féile journeys to putting learnings from the senior education workshops into action on the pitch.
To the players, whose heart, skill, and commitment made it happen.
To the parents and FLOs, who backed the girls every step of the way.
And to our brilliant 2010 sponsors, eDesk and Shiels Londis — your support matters!
Today wasn’t just about winning — it was about showing what Syls is all about: pride, passion, community, and shaping future champions.
Congratulations to all involved – Féile 2025 has a lot to live up to after this!
