Our 2016 boys were back in action Saturday morning and hit the ground running with away trips to Skerries Harps, St. Finians and St. Brigids. The lads showed great energy and footballing skill, and at St. Brigids they joined in a minute’s silence to pay respects to the club president who sadly passed away this week — a lovely show of respect from all involved.
The 2015 boys certainly got the worst of the Saturday weekend weather but their spirits never dipped, showing great resilience in their Go Games fixtures. They lined out at home to Naomh Olaf and made the short trip away to Naomh Mearnóg, putting in strong performances that will stand them in good stead for the season ahead.
Our 2017 boys and girls also opened their season in style. The boys hosted St. Peter’s at home on Saturday while also travelling to St. Brigids and Fingallians, putting on an excellent display despite tough conditions.
The girls fielded three teams at home against Fingallians today and three more in St. Anne’s Park against Raheny, enjoying the sunshine and showing great determination. Sterling performances all round from both squads on their first day back of Go Games, with plenty to look forward to in the year ahead. 🔵🟢
On the inter-county front, Syls were once again making their mark in blue. Two of our U16 lads helped Dublin secure the Micheál Foley Cup, edging out Waterford by a single point in extra time in a thrilling final. Meanwhile, Gavin Kelly proudly togged out for the Dublin U15 hurlers yesterday, another great achievement for one of our rising stars.
It’s fantastic to see so many of our young players representing Syls with such skill, determination and pride both locally and on the intercounty stage. The future is looking bright for our young talent !
